Draft pick trading start

Post by Dodgers »

I see no reason why they shouldn't be tradable starting at the end of the regular season. Making it until the end of the playoffs actually hurts the WS GMs, as Bren so ineptly proved. Once the draft order is set, there's no reason whatsoever not to start trading of the picks.

Thanks shawn. Now... how does it hurt the playoff GM's? My goodness is it going to kill folks to wait until the time when they've believed all along they were supposed to wait for? We all know the dishonest shites are doing it anyway.
BTW, any season after this one it would HAVE to be after the playoffs if we make the playoffs a factor in deciding draft order.

That was what I was going to say. If we're going to base draft order on playoff results then obviously the picks can't be traded until after.

It was late (it's been a crazy weekend), I meant eloquently, but couldn't figure it out. "I just don't want to see guys harassing the WS GM's to get it over with so they can start pick trading." was your quote. Also, we haven't decided anything on how to seed. Obviously if seeding is based on playoffs then it would have to wait and November 1 (unless the playoffs run longer than that) would be fine. But if it's based on regular season results, there's no reason to delay the trading of picks IMO.

The "seeding" will take place for the draft following this upcoming draft. The draft order has already been determined for the upcoming draft based on the regular season record and the Py theory.

This much ado about nothing. There is no big deal to wait until the IBC WS is over to trade draft picks ... and, yes, I understand that there is no reason not to able to trade picks now but WTF. I'd still like to see a strong statement come out of this group about the subject of tanking so let's work on that instead of pissing all over each other about whether we can trade draft picks on this Monday or next Monday ...

I agree with jim. Everyone thought it was after the playoffs, just leave it that way. JP even acknowledged he didn't intend for it to be worded for after the regular season.
