The IBC

I'm sitting at work today, checking up on some other leagues that I'm in, and once I'm finished I swing by the IBC website. And, as I looked at our site, for some reason it hit me again just how much it kicks ass. It's so professional, with so many cool features, it's hard to believe it was all created by one guy. So, first, once again, let me say thanks to Shawn. It's fucking incredible man.

Next, I'd just like to point out to everyone, though I'm sure you already know it, how awesome this league is. I genuinely believe it's the best of it's kind. We're about to finish our SIXTH SEASON (Shut up). That's an eternity in simulation baseball years. We're on our way to a whole decade of us yelling and bitching at each other, and thats pretty fucking cool.

I guess it's all the lameness and drama from my other leagues that made me realize just how sweet this one is. So, props to all of us for being a part of it. It blows my mind that we can't fill some of these GM slots permanently. Guys should be begging to join. The league is that good.

Anyway, I wanted to throw out a couple of suggestions before I shut up. First, remember when we used to do a power poll? It was a pain in the ass because everyone had to email in their lists and then someone had to do all the points and shit and put them in order. I'm wondering if there's a way to do it through OOPSS now, and let GMs vote through the website and let the poll-program do the work. That would be cool.

Second, what if we added some kind of blog feature to the website. I know a lot of us like to rant and rave and just talk baseball in general. We could write about the league, mlb, whatever. They could be fun to read for those of us who might want to do them. Could stir up some activity and some rivalry and had a whole new element to the league.

Anyway, these are just some ideas that I thought would be cool. The whole point of this post was just to point out that despite the recent surge in arguments, this league still kicks some major ass.

First - I think anyone that's been in this league longer then a year, and has been in any sort of any other league totally agrees.

Second - if the above are possible options, more f'ing power to Shawn. This website is a masterpiece - you and Bren have truly been the drivers of this league, and you guys both deserve a lot of credit.

Uhm, this was our 6th season dude, but great sentiments!
I had actually been thinking of something similar for the powerpoll/rankings and never said anything to shawn.
I like the blog idea as well.

I've only been in the league a few days, but I like what I see so far. I loved the banner idea, and we actually incorporated the idea into another league I'm in. The transaction process is very easy also...I look forward to being a mainstay here.

For anyone interested, I'm in another sim league (OOTP) that has been running since 1998. We've just created a new site, so it's not fully integrated yet, but still quite impressive. Feel free to check it out at http://www.cbabaseball.com

I've recently recruited JP to act as my AGM in the league due to it's complexity (we manage 225 player organizations).

The basics....225 players, options, waivers, contracts, free agency, restricted free agency, career stats, incredible player pages, news articles, ammy draft, rule 5 draft, 6 year minor league free agent draft, and a supplemental draft, foreign free agent signings, teams budgets based on market size, transactions and trades and profiles which are all done on the site, and our player models are hand created using our own unique database which takes certain percentages of Zips, Pecota, MLE's, and previous year MLB and CBA stats., etc.

Very fun stuff....for the baseball nerd in all of us.

Good ideas Gabe. I think that as we saw a few new guys in the middle of things (new from the previous year at least) and as we figure to see possibly several more next year, the power rankings stuff could become more appealing again.

And the blog thing seems pretty easy.

Yeah maybe not. I just figured we'd be talking about a standard blog that is basically only connected to the site by link and that we'd just all be "bloggers" on. I guess it could be much more complicated than that, though.

I had a blog for my team when I first joined MLBSL. It was kind of fun updating on trades and my then crappy team.

I realize that "basics" was a bit in jest - but, either way, FUCK ME! Do you guys have day jobs? And if you do, and ably complete them, you are my hero..
