New GM
I've got one possible candidate, someone I've known from a board for a long time (and whom Jake knows as well). He posts to the sonsofthesportsguy.com messageboard as jack_daniels (aka, JD or underscore). I don't actually know his real name since i drifted away from the board for a while. His prospect knowledge isn't strong, but he's enthusiastic, outspoken and pretty much a lock to talk a lot of shit.

Just FWIW, unlike Bren one of my main characteristics that I'd like to see isn't being a lock to talk a lot of shit.RedSox wrote:I've got one possible candidate, someone I've known from a board for a long time (and whom Jake knows as well). Our candidates seem to be getting weaker as we go here.

FWIW:
his name is Shawn Lape
know him from another sim league that was failed
he is in another league that used to be DMB, but switched to OOTP this year. it's 26 teams, but it's 200 players deep so it's something you sick freaks would love like jagger, BP and jb
he would like to join as quickly as he can and says he won't need time to adjust, and he would prefer the roster that the Nationals currently have to the current Pirates roster.
If we were to minidraft them, he would be interested even still (though I agree that a minidraft here is pointless.)
lapshadml: well, I would be an active owner, so that's certainly no problem.......I would be available to start anytime you wish if I can get in
that's his AIM, and I give him a pretty decent stamp of approval at least from my end.

I don't know Shawn well but I have had some interaction with him in another league and I believe he would be both knowledgeable and active.Astros wrote:FWIW:

I DO NOT believe another minidraft is necessary.

I already told JP, but I approve Shawn (that makes 2) and disapprove of a minidraft. So who will come in and take the league's worst team? I was thinking perhaps we should have someone (perhaps one of us) should run the team in the meantime and try to make it more attractive for a potential GM (ie release aged/useless guys and claim some prospects)?

The Pirates, presuming that is the team being discussed, do have some good young players (Ellsbury, Towles, Uggla and Young being the primary examples). The biggest problem that team has is the same problem most teams in the bottom half of the league has - a lack of pitching talent. It will take a good GM some time and patience to address this ... but if someone is willing to invest a couple of years (which all new GMs should, and likely do, expect to to invest) he can build on this platform.Astros wrote:I dont think it's the leagues worst team.
