Bren

I think the time has come to consider going in another direction. He doesn't pay attention to the league, has DL violations, doesn't respond to PMs. I think he has no rope at all, we let him back in a few years ago and he's done nothing but tank since. 2 days of activity since January

I am certainly not the most attentive GM in the league but even I pay more attention to the league and my team specifically then Bren does ... I respect his position as a "founder" but I do believe it is time for another respected long timer to ask him if he is "Dave"-ish in his approach to the IBC and if so, why should he remain?

As much as I enjoy beating up on his team, I agree it's probably time to move on.

I talked to Bren about it today. He's doing a new job and was recently promoted. At first he said he just doesn't care anymore, and would draft a resignation letter. Then he thought about it and said he'd try to participate in the last month, and if he still doesn't care, he'll step down at the end of the year.

FWIW, I'm all for keeping Bren for the last month. Bringing in a newbie at the end of the year always sucks, and it's super delicate around the deadline. If Bren shows little-to-no improvement for the last month, we can send him packing in Oct-Nov. If he decides his heart is in it and shows actual improvement, then I'm happy to keep him here.

If you all disagree, that's cool too. I'm not gung ho about keeping him, but I just think there's equal amount of upside and downside to both scenarios, and in that case, I'd rather stay status quo for now.

I'm totally on board with this. If it helps, I'm supposed to have a beer and/or run with him at the beginning of October, so I can check back in on his decision then.

Fine by me. But I don't think we can let signing a guy or cutting someone suffice as activity, he has to actually show something

He sent a couple rosters in. The offseason just began. Not sure what he's supposed to do at this point. I don't really have a quick trigger here because there's a lot of talent on that team that can get ruined. If Bren wants to bow out, he will. He said he's going to try to find the spark again early in the offseason, and if he doesn't, he'll quit.

Bren: Just so you don't think I've completely forgotten, I'm talking to an old friend of mine about co-managing the team. He's a pretty good and active roto owner but lacks much in the way of minors knowledge. In think between the two of us we can finally get the team moving.

Bren: Alright, assuming ExCo buy-in, my co-manager is in.

I know that Pat G helped manage my team for a few months when I was off in Italy. Granted that was in 2006 and things were a bit more wild back then, but I don't see harm in this.

I'm pretty sure we had co managers pre-OOPSS. As long as they share a login I don't see a technical problem and it seems like a reasonable solution to me.
