Ben

Post by Astros »

I feel the need to bring this up because it has become a recurring theme. Ben is out of the race and has once more stopped paying attention to the league. He's getting ready to have another DL violation, he's not activated Cueto or Strasburg from the DL. Pat G has had a pm that hasn't been read in 2 months, JP has one going on a month. I've tried getting ahold of him via facebook and he reads instant messages and never replies.

I like Ben, but the IBC has never been his sim league priority. I have no problem if that is the case, but I do have a problem with you checking out once you're out of contention and this is the 3rd year in a row. We need to discuss options for handling this

Not having activated those guys seals the deal for me, we got anybody on the waiting list?

My only thought here is that we'd better be very careful who we give this roster to if we take it from Ben. Not that it's great or anything, but it could easily jack up the league if someone decides that they want to move Strasburg, Cueto, Fowler, etc. He does have valuable players.

I don't know that anyone agrees with me on this, but stupid, naive and reckless are all a lot worse than intermittently active. Not speaking to this case in particular, but it does bother me that we've had a harder time getting the exco votes to boot guys who were completely lost and did a great deal of harm to the competitive balance of this league - which, again, along with Shawn and leadership stability are the greatest assets this league has - than guys who wouldn't return PMs.

I agree with this. We need to be careful with a replacement.

I'll send Ben an e-mail and/or message on Facebook asking what his deal is, and that we need more activity out of him. If that goes unattended to, then we probably should remove him. I agree with Brett that Ben has a bunch of pieces that could very well screw up the league. It is tough to find quality GMs, but I think we at the very least owe it to Ben to say, "Dude, come on," before we bring him to the sim guillotine.

It's been more than a week since I messaged & emailed him, and there's been no reply. I really don't want to remove him, but he's giving us no choice.

I messaged Bren yesterday regarding his DL penalties, and he replied within a few minutes and sent a bunch of MPs, so at least if you poke him he replies and fixes things.

So the question regarding Ben now is, because I think we all agree it is time to move on, though we need a formal vote.

As for his team the rest of the year, I think we should leave it be and focus on finding a good GM to come in. I think, given the pieces Ben has, a minidraft with him and Cleveland would be the way to go, though as always we'll have to vote on it. If by some miracle Ben's team makes the second Wild Card, I'll manage it
