Simming

Post by Astros »

With the AL East race being so close, I think it'd be a good idea the last 2 weeks of the season to have Brett P, JP or another member of the ExCo handle the simming so we don't have any conspiracy cries if Bren makes the playoffs

I think that's a great idea, perhaps we can get it back to daily boxes as well (ie only use a new simmer if they don't forsee any major delays in boxes).

I should have mentioned before, but this past week I've moved from Boulder to Boston and tomorrow Boston to Cinci, for the delay, I apologize.
I've been simming for just shy of six full seasons, I would think that would speak for itself.
If JB or Pat would prefer to have someone else sim, I'm fine wit that. I don't really see how anyone else's opinion matters though.

I don't htink anybody has a problem with you simming. That's not the point. If you do make the playoffs and say JB is left out, we just want to diminish any possible crazy theories out there. It's pre emptive.

I personally don't have a problem with you, Bren, simming ... I just thought it was an appropriate idea to have some GM not in the playoffs do it if any GM not in the playoffs has the knowledge and is willing to do so. In fact, I thought this was originally your idea!

Why do you guys think it takes Bren days to get out boxes sometime? It takes a while for my team to lose, heh.

I don't have a problem having Bren sim the games, but I also wouldn't object to others simming the games either. Giving other GMs experience simming and posting games couldn't hurt.

I am all for head to head play, I encourage it whenever possible. I certainly was considering unloading all the sim possibilities on someone else. now, with fewer responsibilities, it doesn't bother me (except when I have crazy weeks like this past week, when it bothers me only because I feel bad about not getting them out every day). Having someone else sim the last two weeks? I can't recall ever having suggested.

A playoff race can be influenced in the first two weeks of the season as in the last two and people who are going to come up with conspiracy theories are going to do so no matter what. If you feel uncomfortable with someone in the last two weeks, then they should not be simming. The last two weeks are no different than any other two weeks. Period.

No need to get so defensive Bren... I fully agree with your last post..

But if it provides a certain comfort level for some then why the fuss? Wash your hands clean and no harm no foul.

Because I find it personally insulting to suggest, even obliquely, that I can't be trusted to sim honestly. Come ask me for a list of the times I've shoved my own interests in the backseat so that I could serve the leagues instead some time. Then you'll understand why I find it insulting.

I just think you should do yourself a favor and shed the water off your back.. I understand where you're coming from, but big effin deal. Take a break, wash your hands of it, and do the "ethical" thing.

Nah, make it bigger. It's funny.

See the other thread for my addressing Nate's comment.

Nate I managed to accidentally lose your logo while trying to resize it. I'm sorry, if you send me the link I'll get it back up.
