All-Star Break Awards

Post by Yankees »

Most Valuable Hitter
Andruw Jones - No doubt. .298/.398/.599 slash line, with 25 bombs. He's been consistent all the way through the year, and put us on his back when we were crippled with injuries.

Least Valuable Hitter
Rafael Furcal - Not that he has a tremendous projection, but a .255/.306/.409 slash line is just not getting it done from the leadoff spot. Hope Gardner's back soon...

They'd be All-Stars...
Andruw Jones - .298/.398/.599
Alberto Callaspo - .332/.377/.462 - a beast for me in the #2 spot
Carlos Beltran - .297/.371/.451 - hot streak has coincided with mine
Chipper Jones - .311/.387/.474 - stretching it, only 200 ab's
Mike Napoli - .225/.311/.459 - stretching it, but catchers suck at hitting

Most Valuable Pitcher
R.A. Dickey - Just like in real life, he's been a rock for my rotation when called upon. Only a 3.35 era, and only 127 baserunners in 110 ip's.

Least Valuable Pitcher
Tie - Matt Cain & Clay Buchholz - For two guys with terrific SIM's, both have pitched phenomenally mediocre. Both sport losing records and more h's than ip's. I'm sure the issues with putting out my best defense have not helped, but I'm looking for strong second halves from both.

They'd be All-Stars...
Craig Kimbrel - 2.43 era, 61 k/41 ip, 12 sv
Johan Santana - 3.71 era, but 13 w's and 126 ip'
R.A. Dickey - 3.35 era, 1.15 whip, 8-3

Fun Stuff
*Kimbrel is my only reliever with an era better than 4.46...
*Francisco Cordero's era is about 600 points better in the SIM than real life
*Santiago Casilla allowed 0 runs in his 1st 17 ip's, 34 in his last 38
*Ryan Howard, Chipper Jones, and Mike Morse all have less than 200 ab's, and OPS+'s of at least 110...
*AJ Ellis is a revelation in real life, but hitting .186 in the SIM - however has a very usable .328 obp for a C...
*To include in his LVP vote, Furcal has 9 steals in 19 chances this year - Brett Gardner has 14 steals in 16 chances, and 1/3 the plate appearances
*Scott Hairston (.890 ops), Chipper Jones (.861 ops), Brett Gardner (.839 ops), Brad Hawpe (.864 ops), and Mike Morse (.893 ops) all have +.830 ops' with less than 200 at-bats.

Looking ahead...
I'm finally almost ok healthy - excited to see what happens...
