Kevin Youkilis (hip, hernia) will continue trying to play this season.
Youkilis has a hernia and bursitis in his left hip that's given him issues for a while now. He'll need surgery to repair the hernia but will delay it until after the season. While it's good news that he'll try to keep playing, it's unclear what he'll be able to do. "He’s willing to try to do anything we ask him to do, which we appreciate,’’ Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "Is he available to pinch hit? How much can he do? Can he rebound the next day? We really don’t know. But we’ll give it a couple of more days here and see where it leads. We kind of have to do that. He can’t just show up one day and hit.’’ We'd advise against playing him in fantasy over the final few games. Sep 25 - 9:29 AM
This is probably the toughest call. Red Sox are obviously playing for their lives, and he hasn't played since Sep 15. Really not sure what to make of him currently, but figured he should be brought up.

I agree ... he would be on the DL now if the Red Sox weren't riding the tight rope but he has been eligible in the real world and has played in the IBC. If he doesn't at least PH in the next three days then I'd say he isn't legit for the IBC playoffs -- course I also hope it is a moot issue (and the IBC Royals aren't is the playoffs though they have taken 5 of our last 7 - ouch!).Cardinals wrote:I'd say if he plays in the next 3 days he can play in the playoffs, if not then no
