I thought the rule was signing by Opening Day. If not, back in...
I'm ok with an Opening Day rule. I'm not ok with a rolling player rule on Cubans.
Status of Cubans
I think it's a good idea for Cubans. Logically, it made sense to lump Cubans in with Japanese and other professional players because the first wave of guys who came over (El Duque, Livan Hernandez, etc.), were making immediate major league contributions and had projections that made an impact. The new class of Cubans is all prospects that have a lot more in common with the Dominican bonus babies than they do with the Japanese prospects we lumped them in with. I'm fine with 1/1 for Cubans.

If I'd gotten a little more support when I pushed for this over the winter, it wouldn't have come up. Were you with me then, when I pushed for the rule change? This could be seen coming a mile away with the influx of younger Cubans, but few wanted to review the rule.Giants wrote: I am just not happy with the process. Can we not let this fall to the wayside now and actually get clarification before the issue comes up again?
No one ever wants to fix anything before there's a problem. I definitely accept being one of the people who didn't see it coming then. Let's fix it now.
