I've talked to a couple of you about this already, but I think given that we're about to enter February that we need to say something about the projections. We don't even have to box ourselves in and definitely say we're going to use ZiPS. I think we should just tell the league, hey, it's ZiPS unless DMB (unlikely) or PECOTA (even less likely) announce their intention to release a projection disc for this year by sometime in March. Putting a definitive timeline on it and an ultimatum is difficult, but probably necessary to avoid incessant complaints from people that we're indecisive and not giving enough time for people to prepare for the year.

Anyway, I think we need to make a formal announcement that it's ZiPS unless DMB or Prospectus say otherwise sometime in February which is pretty unlikely.

I would like to give DMB until early March since it would be a lot better situation (splits, etc) in the event that they put them out. That's the amount of time guys historically had to adjust to them coming out anyway. The likelihood is low, and since we've been getting zips projections all winter a lot of the (what would otherwise be) frantic ST action has already taken place. Three or four weeks is plenty of time for anyone who has to be 100% certain that they're dealing for an exact projection to make the one or two moves that might still be hanging out there. I just don't see a lot of zips based action coming right before the season. Some, but not what we've had in the past, because of the way we've gotten projections.

Right, that's what I'm saying. I may have been a bit ambiguous in my first post by mistake. I'm just saying we should say this week, Hey, ZiPS is the clear front runner unless DMB shocks the world. And if DMB doesn't have any news or anything at all during the entire month of Feb and early March, then they're simply not going to release them at which point we can officially say we're going with Zips.

Either way, I think it's wise for us to keep the whole league in the loop on this.

Yeah JP and I talked about this and I think we need to come up with a deadline for a DMB or Pecota disk so that if they release 3 days before the season we're not frantically trying to switch. But DMB > Pecota > ZIPS seems like the reasonable hierarchy.
