I told Hamlin to bench him for this week. he has been out since 9/12 with a strained muscle in his shoulder and only begun throwing a ball on Saturday from the slope of a mound. He has been lucky to get away with playing him this much anyway.
He is arguing that Harden should be out too since he was shut down for the year. But this is what was said of harden:
Before the game, the Cubs announced Rich Harden has been shut down for the rest of the season.
"He's done a real nice job here," manager Lou Piniella said. "... He doesn't want to pitch, and we respect his wishes."
Harden said it was "kind of a mutual decision."
"It'd be a lot different if we were in it and they needed me to pitch," he said. "I'd be out there in a second and I'd be fine. I'm still healthy, feeling good and took that as a positive for this season."
Whereas Myers:
Brett Myers has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain of his right latissimus muscle and won't pick up a baseball for another week.
and that was on 9/22.
It couldn't be any more clear.
