What's in your CD player/I-Pod?

The place to come to talk about all things IBC related. Or not IBC related. Just keep it reasonably respectful.

What's in your CD player/I-Pod?

Figured we haven't done a music thread recently.

I just discovered this band called "Portugal. The Man". I was looking at Death Metal shirts, and saw a shirt called "the satanic satanist"....the name was ironic enough for me to see what it was all about, especially since it was all psychadelic.

Anyway, I popped on MySpace, http://www.myspace.com/portugaltheman and was instantly impressed...definitely not what I expected. After some Wiki-research, I discovered they were an indy band from Alaska born out of a post-hardcore band.

So I researched more and decided I wanted their first album to start my collection. Watching it on Amazon.com, it was always more than I wanted to spend....So yesterday, I wandered into my old employer CD WAREHOUSE and looked on the shelf, and low and behold, 'Waiter: You Vultures' was on the shelf used for $4.99 = Score.

Got back to work and popped it on my itunes......Amazing....

Not everyone's cup of tea....I would consider it to be a cross between The Mars Volta & Radiohead, with haunting melodies and technical musicianship.

I recommend you check them out if you're looking for something new or different.

Also, listening to:
Wilco - Wilco
Aqualung - Memory Man
Job for a Cowboy - new one
Wu-Tang - Chamber Music
Killswitch Engage - Self Titled
Darkest Hour - The Eternal Return

A friend of mine turned me on to "Portugal. The Man" not too long ago. Not quite my taste, but it makes for a nice change of pace.
another friend introduced me to "Paper Bird" which is also not my usual taste, but they put on a hell of a fun concert.

Spoon. Nothing but Spoon. I've been on this kick for the past couple of months, culminating last weekend with a three-night set that they played down here...and I'm still not over them.

Stewboss and country. Got turned on to Stewboss from Pandora - can't stop listening to them. If you like upbeat Counting Crows, you'll love Stewboss.

Non-Current Metal (now in light rotation, and generally old-school):
Earth, Wind and Fire
