A Thought

The place to come to talk about all things IBC related. Or not IBC related. Just keep it reasonably respectful.

A Thought

I was thinking it would be kind of cool to retire a number for GM's who retire ala Degen. After 7 years in the league, it seems like there ought to be some sort of reminder or something.
Some sort of criteria would be in order, leaving under positive circumstances, significant contribution to the league, length of tenure, etc. 5 years would seem to be a good minimum. Maybe retire a number based on order of joining., though we'd have to figure out who was what number ahead of time, we've got an excel historical file that could help with that.
Any thoughts?

What exactly could we retire? We don't have any numbers, though it's an alright concept, sort of an IBC Hall Of Fame, which is something I've thought about for players... like Jeff Bagwell, Barry Bonds, etc... people who had INSANE years. Pedro for you Bren. Question is, what would the criteria be, etc? We could include GM's into that as well, but I think it'd definitely have to start with some sort of Hall of Fame idea with players getting a writeup and "retirement" into the HOF.

Why? Because we're getting old enough that that kind of thing is something to think about, we've got members here who started out in HS and now are getting real jobs. Establishing a sense of historocity for the league seems like a good thing.

And advice from a Tom Cruise movie? Ha!

Even if Aaron weren't a founding member, he'd belong in an IBC Hall of Fame for doing that.
