Papi's totals came in just 119 games for the Marlins, who unquestionably would not have made the postseason for the first time without him. He still managed to lead the league in IBB (w/ 19), as well as finish among the NL leaders in a number of hitting total categories (incl. HR and BB). Ortiz was tops in the NL in OBP, SLG, OPS, RC/27, ISO. He also posted a ridiculous .342/.480/.748 line vs RHP. Much of the competition for NL MVP posted their totals in 40 more games than Ortiz. And he has a neat-o chinstrap.

2023 GM Totals: 1780 W - 1460 L | 0.549 wpct | 89-73 (avg 162 G record)

Not being around for 40 games still counts for something in my book.
So does defense.
