netflix

Because of a slow theatre season, leading to a ridiculous amount of free time on my part, I have signed up for Netflix. I have been watching a ton of movies lately. Anyway, if anyone has any movies at all that they've seen and would recommend, by all means suggest them. I'm going through my Q pretty damn fast.

I watched all of season one and two of 30 Rock, and have to say, it might be the best comedy since Arrested Development. Even funnier than the Office at times, though I still think The Office is the better show.

I am almost done watching the series Jericho, which has turned out to be awesome. I'm surprised it was cancelled. It's high quality TV.

Zohan sucked. The John Cusack/Marissa Tomei movie War, Inc. was absolute shit. The Promotion, with a stellar cast of John C Reilly, Sean William Scott, Jason Bateman, and Jenna Fischer turned out to blow.

Smileyface was a great stoner comedy. Leatherheads was well done and enjoyable. And, I had no idea, but ROBOCOP was KICKASS. Can't believe I had never seen that before.

Oh, and I watch this every week, but since we're on topic, everyone in this league should watch DEXTER. Probably the best show on TV. I hope to God there are other Dexter-lovers out there in the IBC. If not, check it out, you absolutely will not regret it.

Do you actually work or anything? I wish I had the free time that you do!

(though I agree that 30 Rock is pretty gut-busting)

The economy has slowed down work quite a bit. Not many people are willing to shell out 40 bucks to go to the theatre these days, so company's are cutting their seasons down and therefore eliminating jobs. They are also going with non-union actors because they are much cheaper, which makes things a bit harder as well. Commercial auditions won't get going again for another month or so...so yeah, it's pretty slow.

But, a few nights a week I teach acting classes for kids and do individual coaching for competitions and college auditions. Its not good money, buts its the life of a starving actor, and I love it.

This won't work on NetFlix, but go see Role Models immediately. It's the best comedy I've seen since Van Wilder. Was trying to go see Zak and Miri with a date, got there 10 minutes late, and audibled to Role Models. That was an incredible stroke of luck. I'd write longer on it, but it'd take like 40,000 words to describe every way I loved that movie, and that's not gonna happen.

I saw it over the weekend and couldn't agree more. Best comedy I've seen in awhile.

Yeah I loved Role Models as well, great movie.

As for recommendations for you, I don't really have any newer movies for you that you probably haven't seen. Check out Midnight Run, you'll like it (hey JP, watch it, you bought it a year ago and still haven't). Balls of Fury's a fun way to kill 80 minutes. If you haven't watched the new Alamo with Billy Bob, make sure to cause its fantastic. If you want to watch a groundbreaking film, check out Stagecoach, its the movie that made John Wayne a star. While the action leaves a lot to be desired, since it was made in 1939, the story is really good
