Since being recalled from AAA, Jesse Litsch, 23 years old, has gone 5-2 with a 1.91 era and a 1.05 whip. He finished the year 13-9 with a 3.58 era, and a 1.23 whip.
Pitching with discomfort for the month of August, Joe Saunders finally passed a kidney stone in mid/late September. He finished the month 2-0 with a 2.60 era - and finished the year 17-7 with a 3.41 era and 1.21 whip.
Edinson Volquez finished the 2008 season 17-6 with a 3.21 era, and 206 k's for a team that finished 14 games under .500.
Though he struggled to the finish, Jair Jurrjens took the ball for his last start and shut down the Phillies across 7 ip's, allowing only 5 h's and 2 er's. Though he won't win, Jair put together a solid Rookie of the Year campaign, finishing 13-10 with a 3.68 era across 188 ip's.
