New Red Sox GM

Obviously we have 2 contrasting views here: Bren's demand that we leave the team empty and the majority of the league calling for the spot to be filled sooner rather than later. We should probably decide on a timeline for replacing Bren and so we know when to look for possible candidates.

I would say he has till around May- Mid May to come back. If not, we start looking and bring in a qualified GM.

I would say that as soon as a qualified and interested replacement GM is found, he ought to be brought in ... I also still believe that he should be advised upfront that he will very likely not remain in Boston after this season.

Absolutely on the last part. Whoever comes in as a replacement will not be in that division next year, which, will probably make it easier to find somebody interested. Don't have to deal with JB's team for more than one season.

I'd go so far as to remove the probably from it. Of all of Bren's outgoing "requests" I think that letting Nils have Boston is the most reasonable, and for all the shit he caused he also kept this league going. Speaking of which has anyone heard from Nils lately?

Yeah the replacement would definitely need to know that he's not staying in Boston.

Well Jim seemed to say ASAP, I think we give Bren two - three weeks to change his mind then we seek out a replacement.

I'd say May 1 sounds about right.

If May 1 is the date, we might as well start looking around pretty soon.
