Clemens is a douchebag too, but how many people were rooting against him breaking the 300 win barrier? Can you think of a bigger douchebag among starting pitchers? Schilling probably comes the closest and peoples problem with him is that he talks too much, he's not a lying, money grubbing sack of shit like Clemens is.
To say people didn't want Bonds to break the HR record because he's a douchebag is just plain ignorant. Baseball is full of douchebags. A-Rod is a HUGE douchebag but how many people are hoping he'll break Bonds' all-time HR mark? I know I am and I hate the bastard with a passion. The real issue with Bonds breaking the record was that everyone was sure he was juicing to do it along probably some racist sentiments.
Congress and the record are separate issues, but on the issue of race, they're connected. You want to talk about retarded?

THAT is retarded, not to mention completely wrong. What else would I expect though from a guy who was a drama major... now go get my tall MOCHA latte... not Hazelnut this time.

I don't disagree about Sharpton, he overplays the race card, but sometimes he's right.
As far as Bonds, there are a lot of ignorant people out there (including all the racists). I agree about the Hank Aaron perspective to a point, then you consider that there are people out there that don't like seeing a black man succeed at anything, doesn't matter if a black man did it before.

Alright well that's a load of horse shit. All Al Shapton and Jesse Jackson ever do is play the race card to get attention. They attack whatever will get their names in the news, no matter how insignificant it is. Hey, Don Imus made an unfunny joke that could be construed as racist, lets get him fired. Oh, there's white girls on that team? Well it doesn't matter if their feelings might've gotten hurt because they're white.
Jesse Jackson, who is supposedly all about tolerance, is the same man that called New York Himeytown. But he's Jesse Jackson so nobody brings it up. Jackson and Sharpton are so obviously racist, but they get away with it because they're minorities. And you can't call black people racist, because they're black, and minorities can't possibly discriminate. Its a shame Martin Luther King got killed, because he could still be the voice of the black community today and not these jokers. And to think, if James Earl Ray had aimed a little to the side of him, we'd still have King and would be rid of Jesse Jackson

It's horseshit that he's right sometimes? So he isn't right some of the time? Overplaying the race card, regardless of whether it's for attention or not, doesn't prevent Sharpton... or Jackson... from being right at least some of the time. You're being irrational.
First of all, in a credibility-off with Clemens vs. McNamee, If I had to choose, I'd rather just shoot myself. The list of crap that McNamee has lied about (to press, in court, TO THE GD MITCHELL REPORT, etc.) is mind-boggling.
Second, McNamee had every reason in the world to finger Pettitte, Knobs, and Clemens - he was going down hard if he didn't. He got fingered as a guy who was distributing. If he didn't give those guys up he was definitely going to jail for a much longer period.
Here's where it gets interesting - Knobs and Pettitte have both backed McNamee. That certainly doesn't look good for Clemens. BUT, Clemens was McNamee's most loyal client - and McNamee had absolutely no reason to store those syringes unless he was holding out for something like this. As Gabe said, he could get that blood traced to Clemens and have later put steroid residue in.
This whole situation is just dumb - and is playing out like any sane man could have seen - NO WINNERS.
Do I want to believe Clemens? Sure, but he doesn't look good.
Do I want to believe McNamee? Not at all, and he certainly hasn't helped himself.
Clemens multi-million dollar law team will tear the McNamee evidence apart in a court of law, and Clemens will get off - as everything else is just McNamee vs. Clemens.
Last point - why does everyone care about that house party? No steroids or HGH were taken, only maybe possibly perhapsly talked about, IF Clemens was there. That was the one major area that McNamee looked like a lying moron - and it doesn't do anything anywhere to help aid this case.
If Clemens took steroids and HGH, only 2 people would have seen it - Clemens and McNamee. And I would trust neither enough to watch a used condom.
The clemens team is the one that most cares about the House Party because it might have been an opportunity to prove McNamee was lying. That was until Clemens said something about possibly having been there, when he claimed so strongly before that he hadn't.
Why would McNamee keep the syringes? His past as a cop probably motivated him to cover his butt and it's not as though Clemens hasn't very publicly said one thing and done another in the past. As ridiculous as keeping syringes with HGH/steroids on them is, keeping syringes from B12 shots would be even more baffling.
Also worth noting that there is a good chance that those who congressmen who backed Clemens were somehow influenced by Clemens' longtime friendship with George Bush Sr. Surprised this isn't getting more play in the liberal media
