With the acquisition of Colson Montgomery, the IBC Padres find themselves with a glut of good upcoming 3B. Not including real life White Sox players (Montgomery, Brooks Baldwin, Chase Meidroth and Lenyn Sosa) who have or will have 3B eligibility. I think all 4 will be part of the 2026 IBC Padres (Montgomery at 3B, Baldwin as an IF/OF utility, Meidroth at 2B and Sosa as DH/back up 1B) but there are at least 3 more young 3B on the IBC Padres roster.

Here is a quick glance at all 3:

Jacob Reimer ... At just 21 years old, Reimer generated plenty of deadline buzz as a potential trade chip, and yet the Mets held firm. Across 91 games between High-A and Double-A, he’s posted a .267 average with an .840 OPS, 12 homers, 66 runs scored, and 57 RBIs. The numbers haven’t exactly broken Baseball Twitter, but the Mets clearly like what they see. Reimer’s mature approach at the plate and steady development track seem to have bought him more than just time; they’ve bought him protection. Fangraphs rated him #56 in their newly updated Top 100.

Kyle 23-Karros ... Over 305 plate appearances, the bulk of them with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats — he was promoted to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes on July 18 — Karros is slashing .297/.398/.463 with a 142 wRC+. MLB Pipeline has him rated at #8 in their Rockies recently updated top 30 and BA had him rated as #14 for the Rockies in their recently updated Top 30s.

Carson 24-DeMartini ... A 2024 4th round draftee out of Virginia Tech, DeMartini has held his own hitting .252/.363/.402 with 10 HR in 94 games between A+ and AA. MLB Pipeline has him rated at #13 in their Phillies recently updated top 30 and BA had him rated as #18 for the Phillies in their recently updated Top 30s.

Currently the only young 1B the IBC Padres roster are Tim Elko and the aforementioned Sosa. Elko appears to be unable to hit MLB pitching. Sosa can hit but he is neither a good or smart defender. I am seeking a young 1B, preferably a southpaw swinger, comparable in the prospect world to one of the three 3B prospects above ...
