Now that Padres 2024 season has come to it's conclusion, we start to look forward to 2025. Clearly 1B is a position with surplus for the IBC Padres. The plan is to stay with Christian Walker, Ryan Clifford and possibly Yuli Gurriel at 1B so Rhys Hoskins is "on the market".
The 31 year old bats right-handed and hit .214/.303/.419 with 26 HR and 82 RBI in 449 AB in real life. His ZiPS projection for 2024 was .236/.339/.452 with 22 HR in 445 AB while in the IBC his combined stats for 2024 were .229/.308/.458 with 30 HR and 98 RBI in 537 AB. He rates EX in power vs LHP and VG in power vs RHP. While admittedly not an All Start, Hoskins is a reliable source for power at either 1B of DH (where the IBC Padres have Kyle Schwarber returning).

Re: Rhys Hoskins
Had a little chatter about Hoskins before and I was looking for a replacement for Kiermaier in CF but with Bader in place more open to other ideas.Padres wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 6:31 pm Now that Padres 2024 season has come to it's conclusion, we start to look forward to 2025. Here is a recent update on his real life status:
Rhys Hoskins exercised his one-year, $18 million player option for 2025.
No surprise here. Hoskins was not going to get that kind of salary on the open market after hitting .214 with 26 homers and a .722 OPS in his first season with the Brewers. The 31-year-old will be the everyday first baseman for Milwaukee in 2025.
