Jake Lamb, NL Player Of The Week

Jake Lamb's ascent to one of the most feared cleanup hitters in the Majors got back on track this week, as the Diamondbacks third baseman started sizzling again after a two-week slump.

Lamb was named National League Player of the Week for his efforts, a monster seven-day stretch in which the left-handed hitter drove in 10 runs in five games.
The Diamondbacks went 5-1 last week, in no small thanks to Lamb, who went 7-for-17 with four homers in games against the Mets and Padres. He homered once in each the last two games against New York, then twice in the opener of the Padres series. Lamb hit safely and drove in a run in four of his five games during the week. He also walked six times, meaning he reached base safely 13 times in those games.

All of which put a stamp on what's been an #ASGWorthy campaign so far for Lamb. Arizona's third baseman has a .288/.385/.558 slash line with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs this season, ranking well in nearly every offensive category among a crowded field of third basemen.

Lamb attributed his recent success to work he's put in with hitting coach Dave Magadan on a high-velocity pitching machine.

"It's just quick enough so you can't really have any holes in your swing," Lamb told MLB.com. "It will really show you where your holes are. You've got to be on time and have a clear bat path. It is something I've never really done. It was a struggle the first couple of days, but it got going."

The Player of the Week honor is the second of Lamb's career, first for a Diamondbacks player this season and the first since Brandon Drury took the award last September.
