Its unbelievable how badly this launch went. They've fired the CEO and 24 others shortly after their coming out gala event, which is what caused all this mess in the first place. Seriously, you couldn't make this shit up if you tried.

Jay Z has a lot more than 99 problems these days..

Seems kinda like when Schilling tried to break in to the MMORPG market. The market has already sorted itself out. You're too late Hova.

I think there's room for new players...

But Tidal sure didn't get off on the right foot. There are COUNTLESS articles as to why, none of them wrong. Its been a fuck up of mammoth proportions. And that might be an understatement. The launch went so bad they fired 25 people shortly after, including the CEO. The backlash has been incredible.

And I'm loving every minute of it. heh.

Wasn't aware of Tidal until reading this thread.

I can appreciate wanting to provide lossless music, but for all the reasons stated, it will not survive as a mainstream service. It's a pretty small niche market that actually has equipment where lossless music makes a difference.

And then you have mobile music, which streaming music is best utilized when mobile, since it's sort of a pain in the ass to take your personal collection everywhere... Can you actually stream lossless music over 4G connection? Maybe, I'm not really sure, but for lossless to make a difference, you'll also need to connect a portable amplifier that has a digital connection, not a 1/8" to 1/8" cable, to go along with a very good set of headphones. So unless you're willing to walk around with more than $1000 worth of equipment between your pocket and ears, the lossless music won't make a difference.

Or if you just put $20 into a jar every month and bought the albums you wanted on vinyl, you'll put together a pretty awesome collection quickly and be a total badass when you're spinning vinyl at your parties. (Also, it doesn't cost much to get a USB-midi so that you can run your record player to your PC and record your songs in a lossless format).
