O's sending 3 to AFL

Post by BlueJays »

The Orioles will be sending three minor leaguers to the Arizona Fall League. Josh Phegley, catcher taken as a first round supplemental pick by the White Sox in the 2009 MLB amateur draft, will be joining the Peoria Saguraros managed by Yankee great, Don Mattingly.

Pitcher Danny Duffy who temporarily stepped away from baseball for some unknown reason until finally reappearing in late June will attempt to get in his full work load for the year by extending his 2010 effort into fall and joining fellow Orioles' minor leaguer Brett Lawrie in the AFL playing for the Surprise Rafters.

It should come as no surprise (see what I did there?) that the MLB Royals' 2008 minor league pitcher of the year picked up where he left off by cruising through three levels in the minors to reach AA where he's posted a 3.38 ERA through 34 2/3 innings while sporting a 4.00 K's to BB's ratio.
