Dave Stewart went on short rest and dominated the 11 Rangers, the 90 A's advanced with an 8-0 win. Jose Canseco and Dave Henderson homered.

The 1917 White Sox throw the series to get back at cheapskate Jim Berger, who spends all of his time in Maine instead of focusing on the team. Geoff Zahn threw a complete game and allowed 3 runs for the win. Brian Downing went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles to lead the Angels offense.

It was not Lima Time in Houston as Jose Lima allowed 5 in 7 innings, Steve Carlton threw a 3 hit shutout as the Phils cruised to a 5-0 win to advance. Schmidt homered twice, Luzinski and Larry Bowa also homered as no game in this region will go to 5 games.

The Big Red Machine advanced in another typical 90s Coors Field game, 14-12.Colorado trailed 11-6 entering the bottom of the 8th, but tied things up with a Big Cat double and a pair of two run blasts by Eric Anthony and Vinny Castilla. The Reds went ahead in the 9th on singles by Griffey and Geronimo. Rawley Eastwick got the save, pitching around a home run.

Miguel Sano tied things in the top of the 8th for the Twins, but the 57 Braves responded with a home run by Joe Adcock to win 11-8 and force Game 5.

The 05 White Sox forced Game 5 with a 12 inning victory, 13-9. Freddy Garcia and Barry Zito both got knocked out early. Konerko singled home Tad Iguchi off Jeremy Affeldt in the 8th to tie things up. Chicago went ahead in the 11th thanks to a triple by Aaron Rowand, who came home on an AJ Pierzinski single. The Giants evened things back up thanks to a Gregor Blanco homer in the bottom of the inning. A Konerko grand slam gave the White Sox a 5 run lead, but the Giants would load the bases to bring the tying run up with 2 outs after a Brandon Crawford bases loaded walk. But the Giants were out of pitchers and Joaquin Arias had to hit for himself and popped out to left field to end it.

Jay Buhner broke a 2-2 tie with a solo homer in the 8th inning to force a 5th game. The desperate M's threw Randy Johnson, who pitched a complete game and struck out 12, but must now turn to Jamie Moyer or Jeff Fassero for the rubber match. Paul Sorrento also homered for the M's

Yuli Guerriel doubled home JJ Reddick in the 2nd for the only run of the game as Lance McCullers, Chris Devinski and Ken Giles combined on a 3 hit shutout to force Game 5 in Houston tomorrow.

The 93 Phillies rallied for 3 in the 8th to even the series with a 4-2 win over the 02 A's. A bases loaded Darren Daulton walk got the Phils on the board and Jim Eisenrich had a two out, bases loaded double to put them ahead. Mitch Williams got the save

The 98 Yankees avoided the upset with a 3-2, 11 inning victory over the 2011 Brewers. Cory Hart had two solo homers for the Brewers, including one in the 8th to tie things up. Betancourt got nailed stealing second right before a Lucroy single in the 9th to killer a Brewer rally that could've won the series. Bernie Williams doubled home Tino Martinez for the winning run in the 11th, but Mariano Rivera had some trouble in the bottom half. Jeter and Chad Curtis both had errors that put runners at the corners with one out, but Rickie Weeks didn't try to tag on a shallow fly out by Betancourt with one out, and Lucroy flew out to the track to end it.

The Earl Weaver Meltdown Region

The Orioles took a 7-1 lead and held on for a 7-5 win to send the series back to Baltimore. Archie Bradley was the goat again, giving up 3 runs while only recording 2 outs. Grienke awaits either Mike Cuellar or Dave McNally in Game 5.

A Tony Gwynn single provided the Padres with a 1-0 lead in the 6th inning, which held up until the 9th. The Padres left Trevor Hoffman in the pen and Kevin Brown couldn't finish it, allowing Randy Bush to drive home Brian Harper with a 2 out pinch hit RBI single to tie it up. Brian Boehringer tossed a scoreless top of the 10th and got the win when Ken Caminiti hit a 2 run walkoff smash off Mark Guthrie in the bottom of the 10th. Game 5 at the Metrodome tomorrow.

Dave Stieb threw a complete game, allowing 2 runs as the 85 Blue Jays knocked the 105 win 2004 Cardinals out of the tournament. The Jays took the lead in part to a Scott Rolen error, which loaded the bases. Rance Mulliniks walked and Willie Upshaw grounded into a double play, but that made it 3-2 and the score held up.

The 94 Expos exploded for 15 runs at Wrigley, knocking Steve Trout out in the first inning to win and force game 5. Butch Henry got the win despite giving up 6 in 5 innings.

Cleveland scored 3 touchdowns en route to a 21-1 victory over the 97 Marlins to clinch the series. Yan Gomes had 2 homers, Lindor had 6 RBI and Clevinger went 8 for the win.

The Angels stayed alive with an 11-10 victory in ten innings at Fenway. The Angels took a 10-6 lead into the bottom of the 9th, but Al Levine gave up a 2 run homer to Wade Boggs. Troy Percival came in to get the save, but allowed a 2 run shot to Dwight Evans to tie things up. A Garrett Anderson ground rule double gave the Halos the lead in the 10th and Brendan Donnelly picked Wade Boggs off first for the final out to send the series back to California.

The Tigers stayed alive, winning 7-6 in 10 innings. The Rockies tied things up in the 6th thanks to a Seth Smith pinch hit 3 run blast. Hall of Famer Alan Trammell singled in the 10th, stole second, advanced to 3rd on a sac fly and came home on a Larry Herndon single to win it. Game 5 at Tiger Stadium tomorrow, though Sparky Anderson threw Jack Morris today so he'll be without his ace to face Ubaldo Jimenez

A 16 SEED HAS DEFEATED A 1 SEED! THE 86 METS HAVE BEEN KNOCKED OUT BY THE 99 RANGERS!!!!!

A Raffy Palmeiro two run shot gave the Rangers a 3 run lead in the 4th that they never relinquished on the way to a 7-5 win. Esteban Loiaza got the win in relief and John Wetteland got the save. Pudge, Palmeiro and Rusty Greer all homered for the Rangers. Four Mets were hospitalized for drug overdoses after the game.

Game 5 Ruth Region

The 04 Red Sox walk it off to survive. Max Scherzer went 8, allowed one run and struck out 13 as Washington went into the 9th with a 2-1 lead. Then this happened:

S.Doolittle enters the game to pitch.
J.Damon walks.
J.Damon is caught trying to steal 2B.
M.Bellhorn grounds out to SS.
M.Ramirez draws the walk.
D.Ortiz rips a liner to LF for a double.
D.Roberts enters the game as a pinch-runner for D.Ortiz.
N.Garciaparra hits a bloop double to LCF. M.Ramirez scores. D.Roberts scores.

The 1908 Pirates beat the 08 Phillies 3-2. The game was tied at 2 in the 7th when Pittsburgh put together a rally with 2 walks and a Roy Thomas single to get the winning run home. Philly went down in order in the 9th.

The Dodgers avoid the upset as the Browns staff unravels and allows 7 runs in the 7th and 8th to lose 10-9. The Browns had a 9-3 lead after 5. A Jackie Robinson triple and a Duke Snider sac fly cut the lead to 9-5 in the 7th. The Duke would bring home Pee Wee Reese and Robinson with the game winning double with 2 outs in the 8th. The shell shocked Browns went down in order in the 9th, having blown the opportunity for a huge upset.
