Orioles' Roster Analysis: Real-Life Performance

0- Prospects

Alex Burnett (SP), 20 yrs. old: 3-2, 52.1 IP, 26 K, 15 BB, 53% gb rate - [Ft. Myers, Twins, High-A]
Taylor Green (CI), 21 yrs. old: .306/.395/.445, 28 K, 27 BB, .139 ISOP - [Brevard County, Brewers, High A]
Gaby Hernandez (SP), 22 yrs. old: 2-3, 5.79 ERA, 29 K, 7 BB, 20% K/PA - [Albuquerque, Marlins, AAA]
Rhyne Hughes (1B), 24 yrs. old: .296/.367/.504, 27 K, 12 BB, .208 ISOP - [Montgomery, Rays, AA]
Oscar (Moises) Tejeda (SS), 18 yrs. old: .224/.235/.254, 14 K, 1 BB, .030 ISOP - [Greenville, Red Sox, A]

No one really busting out here...Green has the nicest line, but lacks the power to call it a true breakout season...Hernandez has decent peripherals, and he is only 22, but he needs to put less people on base. There is no sugar-coating Tejeda's numbers...they're just flat-out miserable...thankfully he's only 18.

6- Prospects

Desmond Jennings (OF), 21 yrs old: Has not played yet due to an injured back.
Jonah Nickerson (SP), 23 yrs old: 5-3, 4.12 ERA, 59 IP, 46 K, 10 BB, 19.5% K/PA - [Lakeland, Tigers, High-A]
Chad Rodgers (SP), 20 yrs old: 1-6, 3.96 ERA, 52.1 IP, 44 K, 15 BB, 54% gb rate - [Rome, Braves, A]
Drew Rundle (OF), 20 yrs old: .152/.259/.283, 13 K, 5 BB, .131 ISOP - [Peoria, Cubs, A]

It would be nice to see Jennings play sometime soon. Nickerson was a FA acquisition who's had a couple of nice starts in a row. Rundle must be drinking the same stuff that Tejeda is, because he's been equally as terrible. But, as always, at least he's young.

7- Prospects:

Sean Doolittle (1B), 21 yrs old: .335/.425/.627, 53 K, 31 BB, .292 ISOP - [Stockton, Athletics, High-A]
Josh Horton (SS), 22 yrs old: .296/.415/.367, 30 K, 30 BB, .071 ISOP - [Stockton, Athletics, High-A]
Michael Main (SP), 19 yrs old: Has not pitched this season due to a stress fracture in his ribs.
Mike Moustakas (SS), 19 yrs old: .250/.302/.413, 30 K, 11 BB, .163 ISOP - [Burlington, Royals, A]
Aaron Poreda (SP), 21 yrs old: 4-2, 2.93, 55.1 IP, 38 K, 14 BB, 1 HR [Winston-Salem, White Sox, High-A]
Ben Revere (OF), 20 yrs old: .405/.440/.560, 9 K, 8 BB, .155 ISOP [Beloit, Twins, A]

This is probably the area of my team I'm most excited about and proud of. Moustakas and Main were both acquired in trade, and the other four were draft picks. Revere and Doolittle have been two of the most pleasant surprises in the minors so far this season, and Moustakas is really starting to come around. Once Main starts pitching in June, I should have 6 really nice looking prospects from this draft class.

Doolittle is a nice little player, I checked him and the A's and Giants prospects out in San Jose on Monday ($4 tickets, what the hell right?). I'm not so sure the power is legit (the California League does that), but I love everything else about him, I think he's basically Daric Barton.
