2010 Red Sox at the halfway point

Post by RedSox »

IBCwise the Sox are way ahead of where even I thought they could be. Unfortunately many of my to-end-of-the-season sims have been resulting in a mammoth collapse of both the offense and pitching resulting in a near .500 finish. Plugging in many potential trades on both sides hasn't done anything to significantly alter this end trend so the Sox have begun to gather some young players in anticipation of ranking season.

IBC Sox 1st half performers:
Dustin Ackley - .301/.384/.460, 9HR, 10SB, 61RS
Ian Desmond - .300/.357/.410, 5HR, 8SB, 52RS
Jay Bruce ----- .284/.355/.473, 11HR, 5SB, 61 RBI

Trevor Cahill - 4.11 ERA, .246BAA
Jay Jackson - 4.40 ERA, .270BAA
Jeff Stevens - 4.40 ERA, .254BAA, 9.2K/9IP, 23 Saves

In real life many key cogs for the Sox future are having excellent seasons:

Colby Rasmus - .274/.369/.553, .921OPS, 16HR, 9SB
Jay Bruce - .283/.356/.476, .832OPS, 10HR, 5SB

David Price ----- 11Wins, 2.44ERA, 1.21WHIP, .225BAA
Trevor Cahill --- 8Wins, 2.74ERA, 1.05WHIP, .209BAA
Jaime Garcia --- 7Wins, 2.27ERA, 1.26WHIP, .226BAA
Clayton Richard - 6Wins, 2.74ERA, 1.27WHIP, .245BAA

I look forward to an improvement of at least a full run in team ERA next year as all were sub-average for this year according to ZiPS. Price - 4.62, Cahill - 4.87, Garcia - 4.75, Richard - 4.34, but who knows?

As Chris Berman would say, "that's why they play the games."

You could always come to the evil empire for a deal to keep you in contention.
