I thought the only good part of Apocalypse Now was the Robert Duvall scene. After that I couldn't get into it. I realize they were trying to make some grand statement on Vietnam but just like the Deer Hunter, it had one good scene and then hours of boring shit

Master and Commander

Good call there.

Another Crowe movie that was great, but not the action adventure type was "A Beautiful Mind".

Gladiator was Crowes best in my mind. But 2 underrated ones are him in 3:10 to yuma and my personal favorite Mystery, Alaska. I don't know too many real hockey fans that liked that movie but I loved it. Great to watch with a chick

I second you on the acting in Gladiator. The script, on the other hand...

Can't believe I forgot about "One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest".

Jack Nicholson's classic line: "Ya' know, doc, that Nurse Ratcher's something of a cunt, don't ya think?"

And I also forgot to include "A Clockwork Orange".

Shame on me.

And a few comedies to give additional Honorable Mentions:
Weird Science, Tommy Boy, any early Eddie Murphy films, and many more 80's comedies I'd like to recommend.

Also forgot Eight Men Out (also despite it's inaccuracies). Obviously seven is not enough, for me anyway.

I wondered about that, but when I think about it, it really is an enjoyable movie.

Mrs. Doubtfire has a special place in my heart for a number of reasons. First of all, my first celebrity sighting (at least the first I can remember) came at the theater when I saw that movie (it was my friend's 7th birthday party and it was also Joe Montana's kid's birthday and they were in the theater with us). Also, I've basically tracked my growing up by how many jokes I get in that movie, which is so full of adult jokes for a kid's movie that its ridiculous. Also the idea that the number one children's television star is a drag queen from San Francisco really cracks me up, maybe its just a Bay Area thing. It could have been worse, I nearly chose Death Race 2000 as #7 :D
