Mets No Hitter

Post by Mets »

The Mets have never thrown a no-hitter at the major league level in their franchise history, althought they've had dozens of 1-hitters....most recently one by John Maine in 2007.

Now that the Mets have Johan Santana with the possibility of facing rebuilding teams like the Nationals, Marlins, Pirates in the National League, it begs to wonder if the Mets will finally achieve their historic quest for the franchises first no-no.

Johan has a great chance.. against the Reds. They struggle vs. Lefties. Which makes Oliver a close 2nd - I think I've almost seen him do it against the Reds.

As a Twins fan, I can tell you first hand that Johan is a little too prone to give up a gopher ball to run a serious chance at throwing a no-no. He seems to make just one or two mistakes with his fastball every game.

I think John Maine is your best bet here.

I just figure its going to be the one we least suspect. I don't even know if El Duque can go 9 innings anymore, but what the hell.

I picked John Maine - but I still stand behind the pick.

I not only picked Maine, but I attempted to defend the pick. Ugh.
