Not only does King Kelly have managerial experience, he actually got the substitution rules changed. One of my favorite 19th century baseball stories was the time when Kelly was player-manager for Boston, and in a crucial moment when he saw that his catcher was not going to be able to catch a pop fly jumped out of the dugout, screamed "Kelly now catching for Boston!" and made the catch, which was ruled a legal play.

Onto the A's Coaching Staff

Manager - HAL from 2001 (since we all know the Moneyball A's are run by computers who hate baseball)

Bench Coach - Peter Edward Rose, since nobody knows numbers and odds better than a degenerate gambler. Plus, at least according to ESPN magazine, he was a major figure in the introduction of the fuel that made the Oakland offense run from the late 80's through 2003

Hitting Coach - Jose Canseco, prime beneficiary of Rose's innovations and fairly or not the most recognizable face of Oakland Athletics baseball whenever anyone thinks about the late 80's-early 90's hey day of 3 straight WS appearances. He might draw fans to the ballpark, or at least gawkers (small market teams need to drive up revenue however they can)

Pitching Coach - Rick Peterson, the guy made his reputation on turning hittable pitchers into aces, mostly aided by the ballpark. He should fit in nicely as a mentor for Mark DiFelice, Rowdy Hardy, and Kevin Mulvey.

Bullpen Coach - Dave Stewart, STEW, the most intimidating presence on the mound in A's history, the man who actually made Roger Clemens quit, will try to send some of that intensity Huston Street's way.

First Base Coach - Mark McGwire, he's not here to talk about the past, which makes it that much easier for him to forget whatever mistakes he makes.

Third Base Coach - Wendell Kim, he races the baserunning coach from the third base coaching box to the dugout during the 7th inning stretch.

Baserunning instructor - Rickey Henderson, however Rickey is just using this position to try and force his way into a September tryout.

Like myself, apparently you were left off the email list when they sent out the "IBC Coaching Staff Rules".

Apparently, coaches/hitting instructors/baserunning instructors, etc. can't be collecting a paycheck from two IBC teams at the same time. You'll have to find a new baserunning instructor as Rickey is already employed in the Emerald City.

Missed it, didn't read the thread thoroughly, however there's no doubt Rickey would bolt Seattle in a heartbeat considering I'm guaranteeing him a roster spot if he ever projects again.
