Is it weird to anyone else that opening day is on a Thursday? I didn't even realize games were today until maybe Tuesday. As far back as I can remember opening day has always been on a Monday

No problems on my side. I just hate when they did it on Friday in 2011 and I couldn't eat Hot Dogs because of Lent.

Also - I think I like not having an opening game on Sunday night.

The more pressing question is WHY HASN'T THE YANKEES GAME STARTED YET????????? IT WAS SUPPOSED TO START 6 MINUTES AGO! WHY ARE THEY MAKING ME WAIT???????

This day is so awesome.

This is that same random problem with St. Patty's Days that land on Fridays during Lent.

So question. I'm not Catholic but I observe Lent every year. Does Lent end of Good Friday or on Easter? Cause I need to know if I can finally drink bourbon tomorrow or if I have to wait until Sunday

Lent runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday. On Good Friday, you are free to resume your sinning ways and repent on Sunday when Jesus rises to forgive all our sins ;)

Technically - I've always abstained until Easter Sunday:

"Holy Week and the season of Lent, depending on the Christian denomination and local custom, end with Easter Vigil at sundown on Holy Saturday, on the morning of Easter Sunday, or at the midnight between them."

Good Friday was always a huge NO on the meat thing. I assumed the abstaining was parallel to that.

But there is the rub, the whole 40 days and 40 nights is usually misconstrued because the time between Ash Wednesday and Holy Thursday prior to the Tridium of Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday is 43 days. Somewhere along the lines they failed to realize they were excluding Sundays of Lent which is how you get the 40 days.

So if you only wanted to give up something for 40 days straight, in essence you met that mark.

As for the no meat on Fridays (including Good Friday) as well as Ash Wednesday has always been a thing.
