Tony Fernandez

This has been bothering me for a long time. With the passing of Tony Fernandez I have a reason to bring it up. Does anyone remember in the late 90s, I want to say it was 98 or 99, when Tony Fernandez briefly made a run at .400? I feel like it was after the All Star break and he was around .410

Looks like in '99 he hit .372 in the first half. He hit .437 for the month of May and .396 for the month of June (however "just" .345 in March/April).

By the end of May he would have been hitting .391, and by the end of June he would have been hitting .393. So hovering much closer to .400 than we've seen for a while.

Tony Gwynn flirted with .400 quite a bit between '94 and '97, if that's what you're thinking of? (I seem to recall him being over .400 at one of those all star breaks).

Man, we've lost some good Tony's.
