The DH is an abomination to the game and thats the bottom line. End or story. No ifs, ands, or buts. I won't hear anything to the contrary. If you think the DH is a good idea, you must believe its a good idea to have a DR(Designated Runner) because who wants to see some of these slow plodders try and clog the bases. How about Designated Infielders? There's some absolute butchers in the field.. Why make them do something they might not be good at.

Pitchers might not be great at hitting, but baseball is a perfect game in all its intricacies and imperfections. Including the #9 spot where the pitcher hits. The DH takes away from that. Lets just dumb it down and water it down as much as possible! Take away the things that make the game of rounders so god damned glorious. Lets specialize EVERY damned position on the diamond and make in game decisions virtually nonexistent for Managers. Lets not have to "think" or "strategize" in this game at all, what fucking fun is that?

The NL is like Chess. The AL is like fucking Candy Land.

11v11 football with a substitution rule like baseball would be pretty fun to watch, I think.

Yeah! And anyone who is ok with disallowing players to be pegged with the between bases for an out or intentionally sticking both of your cleats into the middle of the leg of anyone you choose is a fucking moron! The game was perfect the way it began and these Marys dumbing it down to make it more "attractive to watch" ruined it forever.

Also, to paraphrase the Harvard President, this new trickery of trying to spin balls to deceive hitters is below the high standards of this perfect game that Abner Doubleday created all by his lonesome after winning the Civil War.

:)

Oh and while I'm at it, the idiots who allowed a) passing BEYOND the original line of scrimmage and then b) running with ball in your HAND for as long as you can afterward brought about the greatest outrage in US sport history!

These sports were perfect near the time of their original codification!

On a more serious note, I don't have a strong feeling one way or the other about the DH, some positives and some negatives each way. But the notion that managing a baseball game without a DH is much more complicated is a joke, honestly. The list the names of some NL managers who have had success disproves that one pretty easily. They're some of the dumber people on the planet. You just like it better and that's definitely fair.

Using Dusty Baker as a counterpoint to arguments for managerial intelligence is like using Hitler as a counterpoint to arguments that mustaches are sexy. Instant win.

Dusty can be an idiot...but some of that is old school allegiance rather than poor instinct...which gets a lot of coaches in trouble...listening to the star player versus going with the gut. If a coach goes out to check and doesn't pull that I fault on the allegiance versus never going out at all or until it is too late.

Yeah, because you and Sander don't bitch every night about some dumb move Matheny has made. Tell me what genius moves he's made that has led to them winning aside from your GM putting together very good teams?

Bob Brenly once won a World Series and I have a house plant that has a higher IQ. But he also had Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. You can still win with an idiot in charge, but you need a damn good team. Bochy continues to win in the playoffs even though his teams usually are vastly inferior to the rest of the playoffs teams. This past year he got to go up against Matheny and then Ned Yost, who are both regarded as some of the least intelligent managers in the game, and he managed circles around both.

Read to me like you were defending him, sorry. I don't know what happened in those games, so I thought you were saying he had won in the playoffs, so he was smart. My bad.
