Off-Season Evaluation - Catcher

Post by Royals »

Victor Martinez — Martinez had a tough, injury plagued season. He had been one of the most consistently productive catchers in the majors, an easy top 3 choice whose defense had been mediocre for much of his career but had improved quite a bit recently. When healthy, Martinez will hit, there isn’t much question of that. The question is, will he be able to stay healthy? If he can, he’s a top 3-5 catcher. A switch hitting power bat with a high OBP who, until this year, was pretty durable. Was 2008 an aberration or the beginning of the end?
