Does pine tar fix a strained lat?

Michael Pineda had to halt a simulated game on Tuesday after experiencing tightness in his right lat.
Pineda was expected to return from his 10-game pine tar suspension on Monday to face the Angels, but that might not happen now. The Yankees will run some tests and put David Phelps on standby for that Monday start.

Who gets hurt in a simulated game? Also, I picture simulated games like those golf store setups where you use a new driver and hit into a screen and it shows you hitting it straight and 300 yards. Is it much more boring than that?

The pitcher still works 90-100% in a simulated game. There are no fielders and you essentially face a couple of live hitters. It's almost exclusively meant for the pitcher. Injury is very possible.

And you're probably more likely to end it early if something doesn't feel 100% where-as in a start you'll can probably work through it.
