2013 Rotation Latest Updates, Positive Outlooks

James McDonald was terrific again on Friday, but picked up a tough luck loss against the Indians, allowing only one run on three hits in his six innings of work.
McDonald recorded five strikeouts and walked just two in the game. He’s been remarkably consistent this season and hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in any start. With this impressive outing he lowered his ERA to 2.32 on the season and owns an elite 78/24 K/BB ratio through his first 81 1/3 innings. He’s been one of the best stories in baseball this season, and will look to continue his dominance when he battles the Twins at home on Thursday.

Gio Gonzalez pitched well in a losing effort against the Yankees on Friday, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings of work while walking two and striking out eight.
It was the sixth time of the season that Gonzalez has struck out at least eight in a game. Both of the runs he allowed came across in the second inning, on a pair of RBI singles from Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher. With the loss, Gonzalez falls to 8-3 on the season, though he still owns a remarkable 2.52 ERA and 97/32 K/BB ratio. His strikeout total trials only Justin Verlander and Stephen Strasburg for the major league lead. He’ll look to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Rays at home on Thursday.

Lance Lynn tossed 7 1/3 innings of shutout ball Wednesday in the Cardinals' 1-0 defeat of the White Sox.
Lynn fanned a career-high 12 batters while allowing only three hits and issuing just one walk. He's now 10-2 on the season with a fantastic 2.42 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 86/27 K/BB ratio in 81 2/3 innings. The big-bodied right-hander will face a tough test next week in the Tigers but is an obvious must-start in fantasy leagues.

Nathan Eovaldi held the Angels to one run on seven hits in six innings Wednesday, but got stuck with a no-decision in a 2-1 Dodgers loss.
Eovaldi struck out four and walked two. His only real mistake came in the second, where he served up a solo bomb to Alberto Callaspo. Eovaldi has now been quality in three of his four starts since joining the Dodgers rotation, and came within one out of being quality in Colorado on June 3. He's certainly worth a look in deeper mixed formats. He has a 1.82 ERA and 1.22 WHIP after four starts.

And some kid named Kershaw.
