Yes, we suck now. But things are lining up quite nicely for 2010.

Rotation
How about the man, the myth, the legend - Mr. Clayton Kershaw. The 21 year old lefty has 123 K in 124 IP and is sporting a beautiful 2.89 ERA. He will be the starter on Opening Day in 2010.

Randy Wells, the surprise pitcher of the Cubs season, is currently 8-4, with a 2.73 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. The righthander, only 26 years old, has had consistent success against MLB hitting all season long.

Another lefty with killer stats will slide into the number 3 slot. How good are his numbers? 128 K. 10 wins. 2.63 ERA. Who? Wandy Rodriguez. Many predicted before the season that he would take a huge step forward, and he's done just that. A number 3 starter with a sub 3 ERA? I'll take that, yes sir.

How about a rookie that's winning 77% of his decisions? James Happ is 7-2, and is sporting a beautiful 2.97 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP for the defending champion Phillies. Solid number 4 starter? Check.

As for a number 5 starter? There are choices.

David Hernandez is 3-3, 3.28 ERA. Oh yeah, and he's only 24 years old.
Scott Richmond is living in the AL East, and still keeping his ERA under 4 during his first big league season.

Oh yeah, and there's this prized arm who's set to make his MLB debut...
Matusz will start on Tuesday night against the Tigers while Matt Wieters is getting the nod to catch him, MASN Sports reports. The official callup hasn't happened yet, but the Orioles' prized arm is making his debut with their highly-touted young backstop behind the plate. Matusz may only make four or five starts in August before the Orioles decide to shut him down and limit his innings for the season, but he's an excellent keeper at this point given his chances of opening the 2010 season in the rotation.

He was 8-0 with 51 K in 51 IP for AA. He had a WHIP under 1 and 1.57 ERA. The man is gonna be sickkkkkk.

So...pitching? Yeah, we got that.
